Exodus

Exodus

Works from the series "Civilization" have been selected by Bijbels Museum for their group exhibition "Exodus", an exhibition based on the collection of stories from the Bible, Torah and Qur'an, is about oppression and liberation, about refugee flows worldwide, about slavery in the past and in the present, and about a long and uncertain journey towards a new life. The installation "Civilization" symbolizes contemporary consumerism and shows the devotionals of a civilization that has elevated consumption to a religion. A world in which decadence and excessive consumption are the new normal. An exodus of sluggish empires migrates across the planet, in which they claim and deplete the habitable area. To then leave a desert for the poor. As if they were a plague of locusts. Buitenplaats Doornburgh, Maarssen, 2023 (Photography Lize Kraan)
