Loitering youth

Amulet (Zwartenhoek)

Amulet (Zwartenhoek)

Just below The Hague lies the coastal village of Monster. In the Zwartenhoek district, a large group of loitering youths are in charge. Some members dress conspicuously, they wear a monk's hood or habit. It is a reference to the Latin word monasterium, or monastery, from which the name of the village is derived. They consider their lifestyle their religion and in a conversation with a local police spokesperson it was established that the ritual behaviour and practices of the group are becoming increasingly bizarre. Recent problems mainly arise from the explosive growth of the drug

3-MMC and the lack of clarity of the components of these drugs. Featured here is an amulet which was probably made in the euphoria of a drug high and was designed to illustrate the masculinity and power of the wearer.
